Where Did Cory Go To School?

After officially hanging up his spray guns as an auto painter, Cory Powell decided to pursue a legal degree. He began by majoring in English at the University of Florida, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He then moved to St. Petersburg to study at Stetson University College of Law, where he competed on the nation’s top-rated trial team and obtained his J.D. degree, as well as his LL.M., a legal master’s degree, in Advocacy.

After passing the bar exam, Cory began his legal career as a private defense and personal injury attorney. During this time, he spent most of every day either in a courtroom advocating for clients in hearings and trials or conducting numerous depositions, with over 700 individual criminal and civil depositions under his belt in just his first four years of practicing law.

His Experience Working As An Insurance Defense Attorney

Cory wanted to “round out” his legal experience, so he got himself a job working for a large corporate firm representing insurance companies. This ended up being a very valuable experience because it didn’t take him long to realize that insurance defense was not where he belonged. Cory decided to return to representing the people, where he felt his real purpose and passions lay. It’s that fateful decision that lead him to join the skilled team of attorneys at Herman & Wells in Florida.
